Rebecca Long Bailey MP, Labour’s Shadow Business and Energy Secretary, responding to the Treasury announcement on green technologies, said “The Tories seem to be mostly re-announcing existing spending commitments, while they continue to back dangerous fracking and effectively ban new onshore wind energy. So it’s obvious the Conservatives aren’t serious about supporting the transition to a cleaner economy.
“At a time when workers in the car industry are losing their jobs, our country needs a comprehensive and ambitious plan to transition away from polluting vehicles.
“Labour is serious about tackling the climate emergency. Our Green Industrial Revolution will transform the economy, create hundreds of thousands of new green, unionised jobs and reduce carbon emissions to net zero before 2050.”
