Andy McDonald MP, Labour’s Shadow Transport Secretary, responding to the news that the Flybmi airline has filed for administration said “This is another serious blow to the UK aviation industry, after the collapse of Monarch last year. The Tories shambolic handling of Brexit means companies are unsure of future trading arrangements and incurring additional costs.
“My thoughts go out to the airline’s staff and the wider supply chain across the East Midlands.
“Flybmi was crucial to domestic connectivity across the UK. The airline has been in difficulty for some time and I hope the Department for Transport has contingency measures in place for the key regional routes served by the airline and consider how best to support these going forward.”
