Chancellor’s firm pays paltry tax bill – McDonnell responds

John McDonnell MP, Labour’s Shadow Chancellor, commenting on reports that a business part-owned by Philip Hammond has paid just £5,964 in tax on total profits of £1.6million, said “The Chancellor has laid himself open to charges of hypocrisy. This is another example of why we need Labour’s policies to tackle the scale of tax avoidance that is denying our public services the funding they need.”
