Labour doesn’t need a charter to aim for an economic surplus. Since the second world war Britain’s economy has been in surplus four times. Three of these have been during Labour governments with just one, the smallest, during a Tory government. A Labour government will always aim to reduce the deficit, but not on the backs of the most vulnerable or at the cost of the key public services we all rely on. You can trust Labour with the economy, you can trust Labour with the NHS and you can trust Labour to leave a legacy for the next generation.
